What’s so great about volunteering at St Claire’s?

When we asked our volunteers what they enjoyed about starting at St Claire’s, they said ‘the opportunity’ and 'being made to feel welcome and appreciated, part of the team'. They said that we have friendly family atmosphere and that there’s great support. Volunteering with us is an excellent way to start a career working with children, to get back to working with children or to get your qualifications for free. We can offer the right people an excellent training programme as well as;

   * We cover your transport costs

   * If working during the holidays, we fund your lunch at £5.00 per day.

The Program:

  • Volunteer Bronze

Even if you’re only with us for a short period of time – for example the Summer Holidays – we’ll do your DBS for free, you'll complete our in-house training for Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and the online classes for Prevent, FGM and Food Hygiene training. Upon completion, you'll be awarded a certificate and be able to put us on your CV

  • Volunteer Silver

You will have completed the Volunteer Bronze and be with us during term time to complete your Safeguarding Level Two and Paediatric First Aid. You’ll also be supported by your Mentor through the rest of our in-house training which covers Equalities and Inclusion, SEN, Day to Day Practice, Play, Introduction to Play Therapy, Introduction to Mental Health First Aid, Professionalism, and Excelling at Ofsted. Successful completion of each of these is determined by a quiz, discussion in Mentoring sessions and a certificate awarded.

  • Volunteer Gold

You will have completed the Volunteer Silver and be with us for a year to complete your Level Two Child Care, Learning and Development.

All of our volunteers have access to the catalogue of training we have on our Learning Portal – from Autism Awareness to Play Therapy and much of our program can be done online

We don’t just train you. We want you to be able to bring your ideas and enthusiasm to St Claire’s and as such have regular whole team meetings to discuss where we are going and what we should be doing. We have plenty of opportunity for people to progress to full time employment, to contribute to and participate in meetings, policy and practice - many of our senior roles have been filled by people who started with us as volunteers or apprentices.

We thoroughly vet all applicants and require verbal & written references and a clear DBS
